DI and NAIA Learfield Directors' Cup Standing Releases
CLEVELAND – In the first set of winter Division I and final set of NAIA Learfield Directors’ Cup standings, Stanford extends its lead in Division I by accumulating a total of 784.50 points, while Lindsey Wilson remains in first in the NAIA with 643.50 points.
Stanford added 261.50 points to its overall score by capturing the women’s swimming and diving title, a 8th place finish in women’s indoor track and field, 21st place in men’s track and field and 34th place in wrestling. Lindsey Wilson added to its lead in part to a fifth place finish in women’s basketball.
In Division I, Penn State remains in second with 629.75 points, 243.75 of which have come in the winter after capturing the wrestling title, a 10th place finish in men’s indoor track and field, 29th place in women’s swimming and diving and 40th place in women’s indoor track and field. In third is Wisconsin with 585.00 points after a 3rd place finish in National Collegiate women’s ice hockey, 17th place finish in both wrestling and women’s swimming and diving, 35th in women’s indoor track and field and 45th in men’s indoor track and field. USC is in fourth with 507.00 points as the men’s indoor track and field runner-up, a seventh place finish in women’s indoor track and field and 12th place women’s swimming and diving. Rounding out the top five is Michigan with 503.00 points with a 4th place in both wrestling and women’s swimming and diving, and 45th place in men’s indoor track and field.
The Big Ten leads all Division I conferences with four institutions in the top-10 – Penn State (2nd), Wisconsin (3rd), Michigan (5th) and Ohio State (10th).
In NAIA, Wayland Baptist remains in second with 593.00 points, after claiming both the men’s and women’s indoor track and field titles, a third place finish in the women’s NAIA Division I basketball tournament and fifth place in the men’s NAIA Division I basketball tournament. Northwestern (IA) jumped two spots to third with 539.50 points, after a third place finish in the women’s NAIA Division II basketball tournament, sixth place in women’s indoor track and field, ninth place in the men’s NAIA Division II basketball tournament, 24th place in wrestling and 29th place in men’s indoor track and field. Morningside made a five spot leap to fourth with 494.00 points after placing in every winter sport including a fifth place finish in the men’s NAIA Division II basketball tournament and ninth place finish in the women’s tournament. College of Idaho rounds out the top five with 481.50 points after top ten finishes in the men’s NAIA Division I basketball tournament and men’s and women’s swimming and diving.
The Sooner and Great Plains lead all NAIA conferences in the top 10 with two institutions each – Wayland Baptist (2nd) and Oklahoma City (8th) from the Sooner, and Northwestern (IA) (3rd) and Morningside (4th) from the Great Plains.
The next Division I winter standings will be released Thursday, April 5.
