By Alan Grosbach, Manager of Communications & Sports Information

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Tyler Garkow of Point Loma Nazarene (Calif.) has been named the NAIA National Baseball Pitcher of the Week and Daniel Hall of Sterling (Kan.) has been tabbed National Player of the Week, the national office announced Tuesday. Garkow and Hall were selected based on their performances from March 12 – 18 and were chosen out of a pool of conference/independent/unaffiliated groupings.

Garkow, a junior from Glendora, Calif., ended the Sea Lion’s five-game losing streak with a complete-game victory against second-ranked Concordia (Calif.) on March 16. He allowed seven hits, struck out two and did not allow a walk in the 4-1 win. With the victory, Garkow improved to 3-4 on the season and lowered his ERA to 3.66.

Hall, a native of Rancho, Calif., batted .667 (12-for-18) with four home runs, three doubles, one triple, 15 runs scored and 21 RBIs to lead the Warriors to a 6-0 record for the week, including a four-game sweep of conference foe McPherson (Kan.). The junior scored in 5-of-6 games last week, giving him an average of 1.4 runs score per game -- which ranks 13th nationally. Hall’s best performance came in game two of Sterling’s double-header at McPherson on March 16. He finished the game 4-for-4 from the dish, including three home runs, one double and eight RBIs. Hall currently leads the Warriors in batting average (.424), RBIs (28), slugging percentage (.773) and home runs (5).
