LEWISTON, Idaho – (Box Score) A two-run single by second baseman Sam Lind keyed a five-run sixth inning that helped No. 10 Cumberland (Tenn.) break a 5-5 tie and go on to a 13-5 victory over top-seeded Oklahoma Baptist on Tuesday evening at the 2014 Avista-NAIA Baseball World Series.

The game started at 7:44 p.m. but was delayed for a total of 2 hours and 17 minutes due to two separate lightning delays that kept the players on the field until nearly 1 a.m., PDT.

Cumberland (48-19) is now the only remaining unbeaten team in the tournament field, and will play second-seeded Lewis-Clark State (Idaho) on Wednesday at 6:30 p.m. PDT. Oklahoma Baptist (55-8) will face third-seeded Oklahoma Wesleyan in an elimination game at 3 p.m. Both games can be seen live on ESPN3. Click here to watch.

Kevin T. Greene (5-4) earned the victory on the mound for the Bulldogs, throwing 120 pitches in six innings of work. He allowed five hits and five runs (three earned), and pitched through both lightning delays before handing off to Stevie Smith, who worked the final three frames for his first save of the year.

“It was a long night, but a good night,” Cumberland coach Woody Hunt said. “We played well and got the win. That sixth inning was the turning point of course, and their pitcher (OBU’s Andrew Millner) had been a really good pitcher for them but we got to him. We had a big inning and took the wind out of their sails a little bit.”

Lind was right in the middle of the action again for the Bulldogs, going 4-for-5 with a double and three RBI. During the Baseball World Series, the native of Hartford, S.D. is hitting .412 with a tournament-high nine RBI.

Millner (4-2) entered the game in the sixth in relief of starter Jordan Morales, who allowed five runs on eight hits in five innings of work. Tyler Anderson greeted Millner with a leadoff single to boost his average to an even .500 during the tournament and advanced to second when Richie Seaton drew a walk.

Millner hit Bryan Haney with a pitch to load the bases, and then hit Chris Hall to force in the go-ahead run for Cumberland. After the first out of the inning, Lind singled through the right side scoring courtesy runner Zach Cole and Seaton.

A sacrifice fly and a wild pitch accounted for the Bulldogs’ two other runs in the frame.

Cumberland tacked on three more runs in the eighth on one of the Bison’s three errors in the game and a two-run double by Anderson.

Mason Ankeney was 3-for-3 with two RBI for Oklahoma Baptist, whose middle three hitters in the batting order combined to go 0-for-14 in the game.
