2018 NAIA Football Players of the Week — Week Three

Kansas City, Mo. -  Trent Solsma of Morningside (Iowa) has been named the NAIA National Football Offensive Player of the Week, Tori Williams of SAGU (Texas) has been named the NAIA National Football Defensive Player of the Week and Cooper Lee of Baker (Kan.) has been named the NAIA National Football Special Teams Player of the Week, the National office announced Monday.The three student-athletes were nominated for their performances during the week of September 10 – 16 and were selected out of a pool of conference award winners.


Special Teams Player of the Week

Cooper Lee, Baker (Kan.)

Jr., K, De Soto, Kan.

  • Hit a 53-yard field goal attempt to help push the game against Culver-Stockton (Mo.) out of reach early in the second half.
  • Weekly Stats:
    • 3-for-3 in field goal attempts
    • 6-for-6 in extra point attempts
    • 10 kickoffs and one punt


Defensive Player of the Week

Tori Williams, SAGU (Texas)

So., LB, Ennis, Texas

  • Helped lead his defensive corps with his first interception of the season in a 54-23 win over Wayland Baptist (Texas)
  • Weekly Stats:
    • Eight solo tackles
    • Four assisted tackles
    • 5 tackles for a loss
    • One interception


Offensive Player of the Week

Trent Solsma, Morningside (Iowa)

  • Led the powerful Morningside Mustangs’ offense to a commanding 66-13 win over Dakota Wesleyan (S.D.)

    • Passed for 428 yards
    • Completed 34-of-43 pass attempts
