The College of Idaho Yotes Remain in KCMO as They Advance to the Fab Four
Kansas City, Mo. -The second NAIA Men's Basketball National Championship Fab Four ticket is punched, by the College of Idaho, with an intense victory over Georgetown (Ky.). The Yotes beat the Tigers 83-71 and will take on Arizona Christian on Monday, March 24 at 5 p.m. CT in the Fab Four from Municipal Auditorium.
The first half was a neck-and-neck battle, with the College of Idaho leading by a slim 41-37 margin at halftime. Georgetown's Dre Boyd and Jabrion Spikes were instrumental in keeping the deficit to a minimum, scoring 15 and 16 points, respectively. However, the College of Idaho's Samaje Morgan was a standout performer, contributing significantly with 21 points, including two crucial three-pointers.
In the second half, the Yotes extended their lead, outscoring Georgetown 42-34. Drew Wyman was pivotal in this period, adding 19 points and securing 10 rebounds, getting it done on both ends of the court. The College of Idaho and the Tigers shot nearly identical from the floor at 50 percent and 48 percent, and from the charity strip at 54 percent and 56 percent, respectively. C of I out-rebounded Georgetown 38-31 and displayed superior ball movement with 19 assists compared to Georgetown's 13. Straton Rogers also played a crucial role, contributing six points, eight rebounds, and six assists, highlighting his impact on the game. On the other hand, Georgetown did win the turnover battle, committing nine compared to the College of Idaho's 13, but Georgetown's shooting percentages were slightly lower - 47.7 percent from the field and 30.8 percent from 3-point range.
