2024-25 NAIA Men's Basketball Players of the Week - No. 6 (January 21)

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Chaze Harris of Life (Ga.) secured NAIA Men's Basketball Offensive Player of the Week honors, and Latavious Mitchell of Florida Memorial was named the NAIA Men's Basketball Defensive Player of the Week. The duo was selected based on their performances from January 13-19 and were chosen from a pool of conference/Continental Athletic Conference (Independents)/unaffiliated group nominees. 

Players of the Week are announced on Tuesdays on naia.org, Instagram, and X throughout the regular season.

NAIA Men's Basketball Offensive Player of the Week

Chaze Harris, Life (Ga.) - JR - Guard

  • Harris shot a combined 71.4% from the floor and 33.3% from deep over two games for the Running Eagles.
  • In the 99-85 victory at home over Brewton Parker (Ga.), he tallied 23 points on 11-of-17 shots from the floor while dishing out 14 assists.
  • In Life's second win of the week, he was lights out from the floor, shooting 81.8% for a season-high 38 points.
  • Harris averaged a double-double last week with 30.5 points and 11 assists.

NAIA Men's Basketball Defensive Player of the Week

Latavious Mitchell, Florida Memorial - SR - Forward

  • Mitchell put together two great games for the Lions, helping them reach six straight wins over the weekend.
  • In the four-point win on the road in the Battle of Miami Gardens, he grabbed seven steals and four boards.
  • Three days later, in the upset road win against No. 15 Keiser (Fla.), Mitchell secured a season-high 20 boards (15 defensive, five offensive) with six blocks.
  • He was also placed on the Bevo Francis Top-100 watch list for 2025.
