POINT LOOKOUT, Mo. – (Box Score) –Southern Oregon rode a brilliant 32-point performance by junior forward Jordan West to come from behind and defeat Grace College 68-62 in the only second round matchup featuring two unseeded teams in the Men's NAIA Division-II Basketball Championships at Point Lookout, Mo.

Save for a 29-all deadlock forged by the Raiders' Joel Spear's drive at the 6:22 mark, Grace led throughout the first half. The Lancers' advantage reached 10, 24-14, at the 11:51 mark and they maintained a 39-35 lead at the intermission.

West, an Australian native, kept Southern Oregon in the game in the first twenty minutes with 19 of his points. Chad Hoffer had 11 of his twelve points in the first half for Grace.

The Raiders took their first lead with 11:09 remaining on two West free throws and were not behind thereafter. However, Grace did rally to knot the score at 62 with 0:51.1 remaining when center Dennis Williams made the first of two free throws.

West put Southern Oregon ahead to stay thirteen seconds later with two more free throws and the Raiders sealed matters with four more free throws in the closing seconds.

West was backed by 16 points and a superb floor game from guard Tim Weber and 11 points from seasonal scoring and rebounding leader Eric Thompson.

Grace placed four players in double figures led by Caleb Featherston's 13 points. Logan Irwin and Hoffer contributed 12 apiece and Niko Read, who scored the game's first five points, added 10.

The Ashland, Ore. school takes a 26-9 record into Saturday's quarterfinal against No. 2 Embry-Riddle  (34-1) of Daytona Beach Florida. Tipoff is at 3 PM. It marks just the second time that Southern Oregon has reached the quarterfinal round.

Grace closes Coach Jim Kessler's 38th season at 22-11.
