Indiana Wesleyan Rolls Over Bellevue

Point Lookout, Mo. - Box Score | Bracket No. 2 Indiana Wesleyan rolled to an easy 113-81 victory over No. 7 Bellevue (Neb.) Thursday afternoon in a Duer Bracket matchup of two championship regulars in Point Lookout, Mo.
Utilizing the open court to perfection with superb point guard Jonny Marlin running the show, the Wildcats opened a twenty point lead (47-27) with 3:39 remaining in the first half. Marlin nailed a thirty footer at the buzzer to give Indiana Wesleyan a 56-34 lead at intermission.
With Lane Mahurin, Josh Mawhorr and Nate Bubash dominating the inside, Indiana Wesleyan had a 20-12 rebounding advantage in the first half (58 to 33 for the game).
The game may well have set a tournament record for substitutions as Bellevue Coach Shane Paban rotated five man units every ninety seconds and Indiana Wesleyan mentor Greg Tonagel substituted liberally throughout.
Bellevue pressed throughout and fired-up an all-time tournament record 54 three-point attempts (making 12).
Several other records were broken or challenged:
* 73 combined three-point attempts was a new championship record
* 43 made field goals by Indiana Wesleyan ties for fourth in championship history.
* Indiana Wesleyan's 113 points ties for ninth most in championship history.
*Indiana Wesleyan’s 58 rebounds is fourth most in championship history
Seven Wildcats reached double figures led by reserve Aaron Murray's 20 points (18 in the 2nd half). Mawhorr added 17, Marlin and Bob Peters 13 each, Bubash 12, and Trevor Waite and Jacob Johnson 10 each.
Nicolus Guzman and Mike Cardenas had 18 points for Bellevue. Olutola Olushola added 14 points for the Bruins, who close the season with a 20-12 record.
Indiana Wesleyan, the 2014 National Champion, improves to 29-5, advances to Friday's second round against No. 3 Northwest Christian (Ore.).
