2017 NAIA Men's Lacrosse National Players of the Week - No. 2 (March 7)

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Tristan Burkhead of Lawrence Tech (Mich.) was selected as this week’s NAIA Men’s Lacrosse Offensive Player of the Week, while Tyler Hooper from Siena Heights (Mich.) is this week’s National Defensive Player of the Week. They were selected for their performances during the week of Feb. 27 – March 5 and were chosen out of the conference and Association of Independent Institutions award winners

National Offensive Player of the Week
Tristan Burkhead, Lawrence Tech (Mich.)
Jr., A, Tecumseh, Mich.     

• Led his Lawrence Tech team in goals on the week with 11, including scoring the game-winner in overtime against Aquinas (Mich.) to help his squad to a 16-15 win.
• Carries the team-high in goals on the year with 18.
• Recorded 14 shots on goal and earned a shot on goal percentage of .785.
• Holds the No. 1 ranking in the NAIA in total assists with 12.
• This is Burkhead’s first National Player of the Week honor. 

National Defensive Player of the Week
Tyler Hooper, Siena Heights (Mich.)
Jr., G, Tecumseh, Mich.      

• Against then-No. 3 Missouri Baptist, Hooper made 15 saves in the 15-7 win for the Saints.
• On the week, Hooper earned a save percentage of .681.
• During the win, Hooper snatched eight ground balls – a game-high for Lawrence Tech.  
• Ranks No. 7 in the NAIA in saves per game (12).
• This is Burkhead’s first National Player of the Week honor.
