KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Marlu Jansen Van Vuuren of Auburn Montgomery (Ala.) has been named NAIA Men's Tennis Player of the Week, the national office announced Wednesday. Van Vuuren was selected based on his performances from March 19 – 25 and was chosen out of a pool of conference/independent/unaffiliated group player of the week selections.

The freshman from East London, South Africa, enjoyed a perfect week in which he went 3-0 in both singles and doubles play for the fifth-ranked Warhawks, who went 3-0 as a team. In No. 4 singles action, Van Vuuren defeated Renan Molineiro of No. 15 Lee (Tenn.), 6-1, retired, dispatched of Amir Rahbar of No. 9 Xavier (La.), 6-1, 6-0, and followed it up with a 6-3, 6-3 triumph over Yoshikazu Ysa of University of New Orleans.

Van Vuuren teamed with Matias Dasso for a 9-7 win over Lee at No. 2 doubles, an 8-4 victory over Xavier’s No. 2 doubles pair and an 8-2 triumph in No. 3 doubles over University of New Orleans. Van Vuuren improved to 15-1 in singles play and 7-9 in doubles action on the season.

The next men’s tennis Player of the Week will be announced on April 4.
