KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Patrick Besch of Embry-Riddle (Fla.) has been named the NAIA Men’s Tennis Player of the Week, the national office announced Wednesday. Besch was selected based on his performances from April 7-13 and was chosen out of a pool of conference, independent and unaffiliated group award winners.

Besch, a senior from Mainz, Germany, went 6-0 to help the top-ranked Eagles to a 3-0 week. Against Southeastern (Fla.), Besch and partner Jaime Sanchez-Canamares Rios earned a win in their first match of the year at No. 1 doubles (8-4). The tandem also recorded wins at No. 2 doubles against NCAA Division II Florida Southern (8-5) and then-No. 17 Warner (Fla.) (8-0). For the week, Besch went 3-0 in singles play with convincing wins at the No. 3 position against Jordan Harris of Southeastern (6-1, 6-2), Nathan Leavitt of Florida Southern (6-3, 6-1) and a hard-fought victory over Juan Espinel of Warner (6-3, 6-4) to wrap up the Eagles’ regular season and clinch the program’s 10th-straight The Sun Conference regular-season title.
