2014 NAIA Men?s Tennis Player of the Week ? No. 7

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Othmane Lalami of Auburn Montgomery (Ala.) has been named the NAIA Men’s Tennis Player of the Week, the national office announced Wednesday. Lalami was selected based on his performances from April 21-27 and was chosen out of a pool of conference, independent and unaffiliated group award winners.

Lalami, a junior from Casablanca, Morocco, went undefeated as the Warhawks earned their 10th-straight Southern States Athletic Conference (SSAC) Tournament title. The Intercollegiate Tennis Association’s (ITA) No. 49-ranked NAIA singles player dropped just two games in singles play on the week, winning handedly at No. 4 singles against Loyola (La.) (6-0, 6-0), Southern Wesleyan (S.C.) (6-0, 6-0), then-No. 15 Coastal Georgia (6-1, 6-1). He did not finish his match against Daniel Prado of Belhaven (Miss.). At No. 2 doubles, Lalami paired with Zinelabidine Jouini to go 4-0 by defeating Loyola (La.) (8-0), Southern Wesleyan (8-1), then-No. 15 Coastal Georgia (8-5) and then-No. 8 Belhaven (8-5).

On the year, Lalami holds a 21-3 record in singles matches and is 17-7 in doubles play.
