Men's Indoor Track & Field Athlete of the Week - No. 1

KANSAS CITY, Mo. - Zack Lindsley of Doane (Neb.) has been named NAIA National Men's Indoor Field Athlete of the Week and Cordell Baker of Oklahoma Baptist has been tabbed as the NAIA National Men's Indoor Track Athlete of the Week, the national office announced Wednesday. Lindsley and Baker were selected based on their performances from Jan. 7 - 13.

Lindsley, a senior and Columbus, Neb., native, won the weight throw at the Holiday Inn Invitational hosted by NCAA Division I Nebraska on Jan. 11. He recorded a throw of 18.15 meters (59-6 ¾). Lindsley continued his strong weekend the next day at the Scott Nisely Memorial Classic hosted by Doane as he took home first place in the weight throw as his throw measured 19.53 meters (64-1). His weight throw was nine feet better than second place. Lindsely also competed in shot put, where he finished second with a distance of 16.06 meters (52-8 ¼). Lindsley hit the NAIA "A" Qualifying Standard with each of his three throws this past week.

Baker, a native of Sapulpa, Okla., met the qualifying standard in the one-mile run at the Cordell BakerWichita State Herm Wilson Invitational on Jan. 10. Baker clocked a time of 4:19.02 to take home first.
