Men?s Indoor Track & Field Athlete of the Week ? No. 2

KANSAS CITY, Mo. - Doug Benson of Eastern Oregon has been named NAIA National Men's Indoor Track Athlete of the Week and Raymond Carney of Siena Heights (Mich.) has been tabbed as the NAIA National Men's Indoor Field Athlete of the Week, the national office announced Wednesday. Benson and Carney were selected based on their performances from Jan. 14 - 20.

Benson, a senior and Auburn, Wash., native, took first in the one-mile run at the Bronco Invitational hosted by NCAA Division I Boise State on Jan. 19 . He clocked a time of 4:10.99, which broke Eastern Oregon's school record in the mile and is the fastest time in the NAIA this indoor season.

Carney, a senior from Blissfield, Mich., claimed first place in the weight throw at the Tiffin University (Ohio) Carnival on Jan. 19. Carney's throw of 19.86 meters (55-3 ¾) hit the NAIA qualifying standard and also broke the Siena Heights school record. His throw was also a US National Qualifier distance.
