NAIA 2014 Indoor Men's Track & Field Athletes of the Week - No. 2

KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Damian Flores of Eastern Oregon has been named NAIA National Men's Indoor Track Athlete of the Week and Anthony Stockton of William Woods (Mo.) has been selected as the NAIA National Men's Indoor Field Athlete of the Week, the national office announced Wednesday. Flores and Stockton were selected based on their performances from Jan. 20 - 26.

Flores, a senior from Gardena, Calif., recorded two NAIA "A" standards and was a part of a school record-breaking effort in the 4x400 relay. At the NCAA Division I Boise State University (Idaho) Jacksons Invitational from Jan. 24-25, Flores finished second in the 3,000-meter run with a time of 8:34.25. His effort, which was six seconds faster than the "A" standard, was the best by a collegiate athlete as he finished behind an Unattached runner. In the Mile run, Flores earned an "A" standard and took seventh overall (4:16.63) behind a pack of six runners from NCAA Division I institutions. Also, Flores ran the second leg of the 4x400-relay team which established a new school standard (3:24.53). Overall, the squad finished third in the event.

Stockton, a senior from Franklin, Ky., collected a pair of first-place finishes at the NCAA Division III Illinois College Snowbird Open on Jan. 25. He heaved the shot a distance of 50-10 (15.49 meters) to defeat 23 other competitors. In the weight throw. In the weight throw, Stockton moved to No. 1 in the nation with his mark of 62-5 1/4 (19.03 meters).
