2015 Men's Indoor Track & Field Athletes of the Week - No. 5

KANSAS CITY, Mo. —¬†Matthew Clowes of Concordia (Ore.) has been named NAIA National Men's Indoor Track Athlete of the Week and Andrew Tatum of Doane (Neb.) has been selected as the NAIA National Men's Indoor Field Athlete of the Week, the national office announced Wednesday. Clowes and Tatum were selected based on their performances from Feb. 9 – 15. This is the fifth award of the 2015 indoor track & field season.

Men's Indoor Track Athlete of the Week
Matthew Clowes, Concordia (Ore.)
Sr., Stoke-on-Trent, England

• Already the NAIA leader in the mile, Clowes posted the top time in the country in both the 800-meter and the 3,000-meter at the University of Washington Husky Classic on Feb. 14.
• The senior broke the 800m school record with an official conversion time of 1:50.45 finish, and lowered his season-best in the 3,000m with an official conversion time of 8:07.38.
• His 3,000m time now leads the NAIA by more than four full seconds.
• The Stoke-on-Trent, England, native claims his second national honor in three weeks.

Men's Indoor Field Athlete of the Week
Andrew Tatum, Doane (Neb.)
Jr., Lincoln, Neb.

• Tatum posted the second-best pole vault in the NAIA on Feb. 12, winning the Concordia Invite in Seward, Neb.
• The Lincoln, Neb., native defeated a field of 29 athletes with a vault of 5.13 meters (16-10).
• The junior set a new field house and meet record as well and came up .5 inches shy of tying the Doane school record which has stood since 1977.
• He claims his first Indoor Field Athlete of the Week award.
