Concordia (Calif.) Back into Top Three in Men?s Volleyball Poll

BALDWIN CITY, Kan. – Concordia (Calif.) and Lourdes (Ohio) were the only two teams to climb in this week’s NAIA Men’s Volleyball Top 10 poll, as the Eagles moved up a spot from No. 4 to No. 3 and Lourdes vaulted from No. 9 to No. 8.

Concordia improved to 6-2 on the year with three wins last week over then-No. 8 ranked Hope International (Calif.) in four sets, then took down NCAA DII UC San Diego on the road in three sets and NCAA DI Stanford in four sets at home (25-20, 26-24, 20-25, 25-18).

Lourdes is now 6-4 overall and 5-0 in the NAIA Great Lakes after a perfect 3-0 record last week. They won all three of its matches in three sets over Calumet (Ind.), Trinity International (Ill.) and Cardinal Stritch (Wis.).

No. 1 Park (Mo.) improved its winning streak to nine matches with a NAIA South win over Hannibal-LaGrange (Mo.) last Thursday on the road in three sets (25-19, 25-16, 25-12).

No. 2 Grand View (Iowa) also had a perfect week with a win over Graceland (Iowa) on Feb. 3 in three sets (25-17, 25-16, 25-17).

Clarke (Iowa) bumped down a spot to No. 4 this week. The Crusaders are 11-2 overall and will have just one match on its schedule this week as they take on Hannibal-LaGrange on Friday, Feb. 13 in Hannibal, Mo.

St. Ambrose (Iowa) hung on to the No. 5 spot for the second-straight week and is riding an eight-match winning streak with a three set road win at Culver-Stockton (Mo.) last Friday. The Bees haven’t lost since Jan. 17 at Clarke.

Missouri Baptist and Warner (Fla.) hung on to the No. 6 and No. 7 spots respectively. The Spartans are 6-4 on the year and will have its toughest challenge of the year this Wednesday, Feb. 11 as they host No. 1 Park at 6 p.m. at the Carl and Doloris Petty Sports and Recreation Complex.

The Royals didn’t have a match last week and will next compete on Feb. 20 in Chicago, Ill., at St. Xavier (Ill.).

No. 9 Hope International is 8-8 on the year and went 2-1last week with a two-match sweep of UC-Merced (Calif.) and a four set loss at No. 2 Concordia.

The final spot again goes to No. 10 Robert Morris (Ill.) who is 4-2 on the season and hasn’t played a match since Jan. 27. The Eagles will next compete on Feb. 10 at home against Cardinal Stritch.
