Park Regains No. 1 Spot in Men?s Volleyball Poll

BALDWIN CITY, Kan. – The defending 2014 NAIA Men’s Volleyball National Invitational Tournament Champion Park University (Mo.) Pirates regained the No. 1 spot in this week’s NAIA Men’s Volleyball Top 10 poll, announced on Monday.
Park moved to 11-2 on the season with two home wins. The first a three set win over Lindenwood-Belleville (Ill.) and a three set victory over Graceland (Iowa).
GrandView (Iowa) jumped back two spots to No. 3 this week after a four set road loss at then-No. 3 ranked Clarke (Iowa) in four sets (21-25, 25-14, 25-27, 18-25).
With the win, Clarke jumped to the No. 2 spot for its highest ranking of the season. The Crusaders are now 17-2 on the year and is riding one of the longest winningstreaks in the country with nine-straight wins.
Theironly two losses this season have come against No. 1 ranked Park on Jan. 24 and Jan. 31.
Missouri Baptist again rose in this week’s poll, from No. 5 to No. 4. The Spartans were off last week and return to the floor this Tuesday, Feb. 24 when they travel to Fontbonne University. Missouri Baptist is coming off a victory over Park on Feb. 11 at home.
St. Ambrose (Iowa) fell back a spot to No. 5 this week after a 1-1 week. The Bees defeated Culver-Stockton (Mo.) in four sets and then followed that up with a home loss in five sets to No. 7 ranked Warner (Fla.) (23-25, 25-16, 28-26, 25-27, 7-15). The Bees are now 12-4 overall and 3-2 in the NAIA North.
Concordia (Calif.), Warner and Hope International (Calif.) all hung on to the No. 6 through No. 8 spots respectively.
Warner had a busy week, going 3-1 with wins over St. Xavier (Ill.), Culver-Stockton (Mo.) and nationally ranked St. Ambrose, while falling to Robert Morris (Ill.).
Concordia fell in four sets to NCAA Division I Harvard (Mass.) (17-25, 25-21, 25-19, 25-19) and defeated Rivier College in three sets.
While Hope International also went 1-1 on the week with a four set win over Holy Names and a four set loss at NCAA Division I Stanford (Calif.) in Palo Alto, Calif.
Lourdes (Ohio) and Robert Morris flip-flopped spots this week, as Lourdes fell from No. 9 to No. 10 and RMU moved up from No. 10 to No. 9.
The Eagles are 11-2 and 8-2 in the NAIA Great Lakes division after a 3-0 week last week, while Lourdes has now won four-straight games and is 7-4 overall and 6-0 in the Great Lakes.
