KANSAS CITY, Mo - Brittney Carter of Faulkner (Ala.) has been named the NAIA National Division I Women's Basketball Player of the Week, the national office announced Tuesday. Carter was selected based on her performances from Feb. 18 - 24 and was chosen out of a pool of conference/unaffiliated group winners.

Carter, a senior forward, averaged 26.0 points, 15.5 rebounds, two steals, 1.5 blocks and one assist in Faulkner's home wins against Spring Hill (Ala.) on Feb. 21 and Belhaven (Miss.) on Feb. 23. She shot 61.6 percent (22-of-36) from the floor and 72.7 percent (8-of-11) from the free throw line.

Against Spring Hill, the Montgomery, Ala., native tallied a career-high 36 points on 15-of-24 shooting to lead the Eagles to an 86-64 victory. She added 15 rebounds, two blocks and three steals in the winning effort, as Faulkner earned its first-ever berth in the Division I Women's Basketball National Championship with a first-place finish in the Southern States Athletic Conference West Division. She followed that performance with her 23rd double-double - 16 points and 16 rebounds - in the regular-season finale against Belhaven.

Carter ranks in the top 10 nationally in rebounds per game (12.8), total rebounds (385), defensive rebounds per game (8.4), field goal percentage (0.590), offensive rebounds per game (4.4) and total scoring (512). Her 23 double-doubles is second in the NAIA.
