NAIA Division I Women’s Basketball Player of the Week — No. 9

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Kelsey Ernst of Clarke (Iowa) has been named the NAIA Division I Women’s Basketball National Player of the Week, the national office announced Tuesday. Ernst was selected for her play during the week of Feb. 6 – 12 and was chosen out of the conference and Association of Independent Institutions award winners.

5-11, Sr., F, Bellevue, Iowa

• Tallied her 11th and 12th double-doubles of the season in a 2-0 week for the Crusaders.
• Finished with a season-best 34 points, while also grabbing two rebounds in a 97-86 road win at then-No. 14 Central Methodist (Mo.).
• Connected on 13-of-18 (72.2 percent) attempts from the field, while also going 8-for-12 at the foul line in the upset win against the Eagles.
• Registered 19 points and 10 boards in an 82-65 weekend victory against Peru State (Neb.).
• For the week, the senior averaged 26.5 points, 11.0 rebounds and 1.5 steals, while shooting 62.5 percent from the field and 72.2 percent from the charity stripe.
• Ranks 12th nationally in total rebounds (232) and No. 27 in total scoring (393).
• Ernst is the first individual from the Heart of America Athletic Conference to claim National Player of the Week honors this season.
