Southern Oregon survives battle with Tabor

SIOUX CITY, IOWA – (Box Score – Bracket) The Raiders of Southern Oregon make its way to its first ever semifinals appearance in its nine appearances at the NAIA Division II Women’s Basketball National Championship after beating No. 3 Tabor (Kan.) in a close matchup, 73-67.
The Bluejays gave Southern Oregon a run for their money, staying no more than seven points behind at the end of each quarter, even scoring 13 points each in the second. With 42 seconds remaining on the clock, the Raiders came out of a timeout to successfully run a play to extend its lead by four and seal the deal.
Tabor had a strong night across the bench with three players putting up double-digit numbers and Tena Loewn with another strong night adding a double-double to her career with a game high 18 points and 12 rebounds. The Bluejays end its season 28-7 as the Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference tournament champions.
The Raiders lost All-American guard Ashley Claussen late in the second quarter due to an injury, but pressed on to shot 45 percent from the field, 36 percent from behind the arc and created 22 turnovers to keep its season alive.
Southern Oregon is back in action Monday night, March 14 at 8 p.m. against No. 5 Goshen (Ind.).
