NAIA Division II Women's Basketball National Player of the Week ? No. 10

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Chanel Fanter of Saint Xavier (Ill.) has been named the NAIA National Women's Basketball Division II Player of the Week, the national office announced Tuesday. Fanter was nominated for her performances during the week of Feb. 4-10 and was selected out of a pool of conference award winners.

  • Fanter averaged a team-high 23.3 points and 8.3 rebounds per game last week as the No. 21-ranked Saint Xavier Cougars picked up a pair of key conference wins. In the game against IU South Bend (Ind.), Fanter had a game-high eight blocks, as the team set this season’s NAIA single-game high of 17 blocked shots.

    • 21 points, eight rebounds, six assists, four blocks, one steal in a win over Calumet-St. Joseph (Ind.), 77-40.
    • 21 points, 10 rebounds, six assists, three blocks, one steal in the loss against Roosevelt (Ill.), 68-65.
    • 28 points, eight blocks, seven rebounds, four assists in the win vs. IU South Bend (Ind.), 73-44.
    • Averages: 23.3 points per game, 8.3 rebounds per game, 5.3 assists per game, 5.0 blocks per game, 58.3-percent (28-of-48) from the field, 35.7-percent (5-of-14) from the 3-point arc.
