KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Wiebke Schlender of Indiana Tech has been named the NAIA National Women’s Golfer of the Week, the national office announced Wednesday. Schlender was selected based on her performance from March 31-April 6 and was chosen out of a pool of conference, independent and unaffiliated group winners.

Schlender, a freshman from Paderborn, Germany, carded a one-under par 72 to win the University of Saint Francis (Ind.) Cougar Invitational on April 5 in Fort Wayne, Ind. The win, Schlender’s ninth in 11 appearances, helped Indiana Tech to a second place team finish at the Invitational. The 72 was two strokes off of Schlender’s season-low round of 70, but nearly four strokes better than her season average of 75.71, which ranks third in the NAIA.

The next Women’s Golfer of the Week will be announced on April 16. For the complete 2014 Golfer of the Week schedule, click here.
