By Alan Grosbach, Manager of Communications and Sports Information

KANSAS CITY, Mo. - Kelsey Langille of Cumberland (Tenn.) has been named the NAIA National Women's Soccer Offensive Player of the Week and Indigo Recker of Concordia (Ore.) has been tabbed National Women's Soccer Defensive Player of the Week, the national office announced Tuesday. Langille and Recker are the first honorees of the 2012 season and were selected based on their performances from Aug. 27 - Sept. 2 and were chosen out of a pool of conference/independent/unaffiliated groupings.

Langille, a freshman forward from Ardrossan, Alberta, played a key role in Cumberland's 3-0 start this season that included a 4-1 victory over then-No. 24 Science & Arts (Okla.) on Sept. 2. Langille netted six goals last week, highlighted by a hat trick in the Bulldogs season opener at Bryan (Tenn.) on Aug. 28. She continued her scoring streak with an 84th-minute goal against Midland (Neb.) on Sept. 1, before closing the week with 49th and 76th-minute scores against Science & Arts.

Nationally, Langille ranks amongst the top 10 in shots per game (8), goals per game (2), game winning goals (2), goals (6), shots on goal per game (4.3) and points (12).

Recker, a senior defender from Portland, Ore., played all 180 minutes in Concordia's back-to-back shutout victories against then-No. 12 Hastings (Neb.) (2-0) on Aug. 31 and then-No. 3 Lindsey Wilson (Ky.) (2-0) on Sept. 2. For the week, Recker anchored a Cavalier defense that allowed only four shots, one shot on goal and two corner kicks, including just one shot attempt against Lindsey Wilson. Her performance, along with the other Concordia defenders, extends the Cavaliers shutout streak to over 300 minutes.
