2017 NAIA Women's Soccer Players of the Week ? No. 8 (Oct. 24)

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Lindsey Carley of Concordia (Neb.) has been named the NAIA National Women’s Soccer Defensive Player of the Week and Uchenna Kanu of Southeastern (Fla.) has been named the NAIA National Women’s Soccer Offensive Player of the Week, the national office announced Tuesday. Carley and Kanu were selected based on their performances from Oct. 16 – 22, and were chosen out of a pool of conference, independent and unaffiliated group winners.

Offensive Player of the Week
Uchenna Kanu, Southeastern (Fla.) So, F, Abia, Nigeria

  • Recorded two hat-trick matches on the week, including a four-goal effort against SCAD Savannah (Ga.) on Oct. 18.
  • Weekly Stats:
    • Tallied seven goals, one assist and 15 points in two conference wins
    • Averaged a goal per 19.9 minutes of play
    • Scored at least one goal in 11-of-13 matches on the year
    • Ranks second in the NAIA in total points (64) and third in goals scored (28)

Defensive Player of the Week
Lindsey Carley, Concordia (Neb.) So., GK, Urbandale, Iowa

  • Made combined 10 saves in two road shutout wins as the Bulldogs maintained first-place position in the Great Plains Athletic Conference standings
  • Weekly Stats:
    • Posted 10 saves in 180 minutes and did not allow a goal
    • In 1-0 victory against No. 18 Midland (Neb.) on Oct. 18, Carley halted five shots on goal. The zero goals scored by Midland was just the third occasion this year in 14 previous matches
    • Stands with five season shutouts
