Women?s Tennis Player of the Week ? No. 3
KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Olivia West of Xavier (La.) has been named NAIA Women's Tennis Player of the Week, the national office announced Wednesday. West was selected based on her performances from March 25 – 31 and was chosen out of a pool of conference/independent/unaffiliated group player of the week selections.
The sophomore native of Humble, Texas, went 2-0 in singles and 3-0 in doubles on the week. West helped the Nuggets to an 8-1 victory over Webber International (Fla.) on March 26. Against Webber International, West won No. 4 singles, 6-2, 6-1, and No. 3 doubles, 8-2. The next day, West helped Xavier to defeat No. 14 Northwood (Fla.). In her singles match, West dropped the first set, 6-0, before rebounding to win the next two, 6-2, 6-0. She was also victorious in doubles against Northwood, 8-4.
In their third match in three days, West was victorious in No. 3 doubles, 8-2, helping Xavier defeat Embry-Riddle (Fla.), 7-2. With the perfect week she improves her record in singles to 4-5 and doubles to 4-4.
The next women’s tennis Player of the Week will be announced on April 3.
