KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Zalina Nazarova of Brenau (Ga.) has been named NAIA National Women's Tennis Player of the Week, the national office announced Wednesday. Nazarova was selected based on her performances from April 8 – 14 and was chosen out of a pool of conference/independent/unaffiliated group player of the week selections.

The junior native of Nalchik, Russia, went unbeaten in No. 4 singles and No. 2 doubles on the week and helped the Golden Tigers take down two ranked teams. On April 9, Nazarova secured two of three points for Brenau in a 6-3 loss to No. 3 Auburn Montgomery. She won her singles match, 6-4, 6-1, against Fernanda Vargas and won in No. 2 doubles, 8-2.

The next day, Nazarova helped Brenau take down then-No. 20 Lee (Tenn.), 9-0. Nazarova was victorious in her singles match, 6-0, 6-1, and in doubles, 8-0. The winning ways continued for Nazarova against then-No. 24 SCAD Atlanta (Ga.), claiming victory in singles, 6-2, 6-0. In her doubles match, Nazarova came away with a 9-8 victory.

With the perfect week, Nazarova has not lost a match, singles or doubles, since March 24 when she lost in No. 4 singles and No. 1 doubles to NCAA Division I Alabama-Birmingham.

The next women’s tennis Player of the Week will be announced on April 24.
