2014 NAIA Women's Tennis Player of the Week - No. 5

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Katie Wilson of Indiana Wesleyan has been named the NAIA Women’s Tennis Player of the Week, the national office announced Wednesday.  Wilson was selected based on her performances from April 7-13 and was chosen out of a pool of conference, independent and unaffiliated grouping award winners.

Wilson, a sophomore from Middletown, Ind., led the Wildcats to four 9-0 match sweeps on the week. With partner Kim Mella, Wilson recorded three blowout wins at No. 1 doubles to start the week against Purdue Calumet (Ind.) (8-0), Taylor (Ind.) (8-0) and Indiana Southeast (8-1). The Intercollegiate Tennis Association’s No. 21-ranked doubles tandem also defeated a tough Aquinas duo, 8-6. At No. 1 singles, Wilson was also perfect on the week with wins over Purdue Calumet (6-1, 6-1), Taylor (6-2, 6-3), Indiana Southeast (6-1, 6-1) and Aquinas (6-3, 4-6, 6-3).
