2014 NAIA Women's Tennis Player of the Week - No. 7

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Jade Curtis of Auburn Montgomery (Ala.) has been named the NAIA Women’s Tennis Player of the Week, the national office announced Wednesday. Curtis was selected based on her performances from April 21-27 and was chosen out of a pool of conference, independent and unaffiliated grouping award winners.

Curtis, a senior from Saltash, England, led Auburn Montgomery to its eighth-straight Southern States Athletic Conference (SSAC) Tournament championship and went 7-0 in four matches on the week. The Intercollegiate Tennis Association’s (ITA) No. 1 NAIA singles player defeated Meghan de Baroncelli of Loyola (La.) twice (6-1, 6-1) (6-1, 6-3) and Volcey Boilevin of William Carey (6-1, 6-0). Curtis did not finish her match against ITA’s No. 7-ranked singles player Dominika Jasoca of Brenau (Ga.). At No. 2 doubles, Curtis paired with Bright Phakamad for victories over Loyola (La.) (8-0) (8-1), William Carey (8-0) and then-No. 6 Brenau (8-2).

On the year, Curtis holds a 20-3 record in singles play and a 19-5 mark in doubles competition.
