KANSAS CITY, Mo. - Adella King of Indiana Tech has been named the NAIA National Women's Outdoor Track Athlete of The Week and Evan Shimanek of Oklahoma Baptist has been honored as the NAIA National Women's Outdoor Field Athlete of The Week, the national office announced Wednesday. King and Shimanek were selected based on their performances from March 26 - April 1. This award is the second of the year for King, as she was honored on March 21.

King, a junior from Detroit, Mich., took home three "A" standards at the NCAA Division I North Carolina State Raleigh Relays on March 31. She shattered her own school record with a prelim time of 11.26 in the 100-meters. She eventually finished second out of 76 runners. Her prelim time also put her in the top10 for the fastest time in the world this year. In her second event, she ran a leg of the 4x100-meter relay team that tied for first and set a school season-best. Finally, King would cap off her weekend with a 23.35 wind legal 200-meter clocking as she cruised to victory. Her 200 time set the Olympic B standard in the event and should qualify her for the USA Olympic trials.

Shimanek, a junior from Hennessey, Okla., reached the NAIA's top height in the pole vault this year. She (pictured top right) set a personal best mark of 12' 1 ¾" to finish first at the Bison Invitational on March 31. She defeated the second-place performer by more than five inches.
