KANSAS CITY, Mo. – For the sixth-straight time, Texas at Brownsville is the No. 1 team in the 2013 Tachikara-NAIA Volleyball Coaches' Postseason Top 25 poll, the national office announced Wednesday. After winning the NAIA Volleyball National Championship for the second time in the last three years, the Ocelots were the unanimous selection for the sixth-consecutive poll with all 21 first-place votes and 591 points.

The Ocelots took home the banner with a perfect 37-0 record. Danica Markovic, the Tachikara Championship Most Valuable Player and the Tachikara-NAIA Volleyball Player of the Year, was one of three Texas at Brownsville selections on the All-America First Team. As a squad, Texas at Brownsville ended the year No. 1 in hitting percentage (.349), third in blocks (2.8) and ninth in kills (13.8).

No. 2 Biola (Calif.), a team to lose 3-0 (27-25, 27-25, 25-22) in the national championship final to the Ocelots, gathered 572 total points. The Eagles finished 27-4 and competed in their second-ever title bout (lost in 1985). Head coach Aaron Seltzer was tabbed the NAIA Volleyball Coach of the Year earlier this week and mentored three NAIA First Team All-Americans.

Concordia (Calif.) drops one spot to No. 3 with 551 points. This marks the first time in 32 polls that the Eagles have fallen out of the first-two positions, which dates back to Oct. 11, 2011. Concordia advanced to its eighth national championship semifinal in the last 10 years where it fell to national runner-up Biola. The Eagles end their season with a 27-3 record.

Perhaps the biggest surprise of the National Championship, Wayland Baptist (Texas) moved up 15 spots to No. 4 in the postseason edition. The Pioneers, who posted 532 total points, went 6-1 in the postseason before eventually bowing out in the semifinals to Texas at Brownsville.

No. 5 Madonna (Mich.) maintains its top-five status for the 11th-straight poll. The Crusaders fell one spot in the ranking and finished with 493 points. Ending the year with a 41-2 record, Madonna advanced to the quarterfinal round for the first time since 2005. The Crusaders went 39-0 before suffering their first loss in the second match of pool play on Dec. 4.

Wayland Baptist was the biggest improvement within the poll. Conversely, No. 19 Vanguard (Calif.) dropped 10 spots for the largest fall.

No. 22 Trinity Christian (Ill.) became the 36th different team to be ranked this year after earning its second all-time National Championship berth. The Trolls, who could not advance out of pool play, boast their first-ever Top 25 ranking in school history.

No. 17 Indiana Wesleyan joins Trinity Christian as the other newcomer this week. The Wildcats held a No. 20 position back on Sept. 10.

Davenport (Mich.) (No. 24) and Montana State-Northern (No. 22) both dropped out of the postseason poll.

The Golden State Athletic Conference again boasts the most ranked teams with five: Biola, Concordia, No. 6 The Master's (Calif.), Vanguard and No. 23 Westmont (Calif.). The Great Plains Athletic Conference placed three programs in the poll.

Notes: (All information as of 2000) Texas at Brownsville becomes the sixth team in the last eight years to enter the National Championship as the No. 1-ranked team and win the title... There were 36 different teams to be ranked this season, with 15 of those holding a spot in all 13 polls (including Preseason)... Texas at Brownsville earns its 24th all-time No. 1 position, which is third most in history… The Golden State Athletic Conference has now led all conferences each week with the most representatives -- four in the Preseason Top 25 and five each in the 11 regular-season  and postseason polls... Former member Fresno Pacific (Calif.) has the most No. 1 appearances with 70, followed by former member National American (S.D.) with 32, Texas at Brownsville with 24, Columbia (Mo.) with 20 and Concordia at 14… Concordia has the longest active streak in the Top 25 as it has been ranked for 98-straight polls, dating back to the start of the 2006 season; right behind is Biola (Calif.) with 97-consecutive mentions followed by Columbia (85), Texas at Brownsville (60) and Embry-Riddle (Fla.) (50)... There has only been one program that has been able to maintain the No. 1 ranking for an entire season with Fresno Pacific accomplishing the feat in 2004, 2008 and 2009… Last year, 38 teams were ranked on at least one occasion, with 13 of those being included in all 13 polls.
