2016 NAIA Women's Volleyball Player of the Week - No. 6 (Oct.11)

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Three players have been named NAIA National Volleyball Players of the Week. Kami Troesh of Westmont (Calif.) is the National Defender of the Week, Peiyi Liu from Columbia (Mo.) was selected as the National Attacker of the Week and Makenzie Montano of Lindsey Wilson (Ky.) is the National Setter of the Week. These three were selected based on their performances from Oct. 3-10 and were chosen out of a pool of conference player of the week selections.  

National Attacker of the Week
Peiyi Liu, Columbia (Mo.)
Jr., RS, Nanjing, China

• In three-straight sweeps for Columbia (Mo.), Liu earned 38 kills in nine sets played.
• Recorded an attack percentage of .508 with an average of 4.2 kills. Also tallied three aces and 18 digs on the week.
• Ranks No. 2 nationally in hitting percentage (.430), No. 11 in kills per match (4.3) and No. 30 in total kills (293).
• This is Liu’s fifth National Player of the Week honor and second this season. She was also named the 2015 NAIA/AVCA National Player of the Year.

National Defender of the Week
Kami Troesh, Westmont (Calif.)
Sr., L, Newport Beach, Calif.

• Anchored the defense for Westmont (Calif.), the only undefeated team left in the nation. The Warriors went 5-0 on the week with Troesh tallying 105 serve receptions and 125 digs.
• Earned a service percentage of .969 and a reception percentage of .955. Troesh managed five aces during the matches.
• Tied her season-high of 33 digs in a win over (RV) Northwestern (Iowa).
• Ranks No. 20 in digs per match (5.5) and No. 22 in total digs (434) in the NAIA.
• This is the first National Player of the Week honor for Troesh. 

National Setter of the Week
Makenzie Montano, Lindsey Wilson (Ky.)
Jr., S, Louisville, Ky. 

• On a 4-0 week for Lindsey Wilson (Ky.) over ranked teams, Montano averaged 10 assists per set with 28 total kills.
• Opened the week with a career-high 15 digs to go along with 44 assists and seven kills in a five-set victory over No. 8 Georgetown (Ky.). Earned a season-high 49 assists with 13 digs and nine kills in a win over No. 9 Grand View (Iowa). Montano was named the MVP of the Spartan Classic in St. Louis, Mo.
• Garnered an attack percentage of .358 for the week.
• Ranks No. 13 nationally in assists per match (10.6) and No. 44 in total assists (697).
• This is Montano's first National Player of the Week honor.
