2016 NAIA Women's Volleyball Player of the Week - No. 7 (Oct. 18)

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Three players have been named NAIA National Volleyball Players of the Week. Cheyan Coburn of College of Idaho is the National Defender of the Week, Natalie Geidel from Viterbo (Wis.) was selected as the National Attacker of the Week and Amelia Grahn of Viterbo (Wis.) is the National Setter of the Week. These three were selected based on their performances from Oct. 10-17 and were chosen out of a pool of conference player of the week selections.  

National Attacker of the Week
Natalie Geidel, Viterbo (Wis.)
Jr., MH, West Bend, Wis.   

• Averaged 4.2 kills per set and totaled 80 in five victories for the V-Hawks. In a 3-2 win over then-No. 23 Indiana Wesleyan, Geidel counted 21 kills, before recording 19 kills in a 3-1 victory against then-No. 25 Peru State (Neb.). In 11-straight matches, Geidel has documented double digit kills.
• Recorded 19 blocks throughout the five contests, and hit .382 on the week.
• Ranks No. 6 in the NAIA in total kills (399), No. 9 in hitting percentage (.378) and No. 16 in kills per set (4.2).
• This is the first National Player of the Week honor for Geidel. 

National Defender of the Week
Cheyan Coburn, College of Idaho
Sr., DS, Moore, Idaho  

• Earned career-highs in back-to-back matches, recording 23 digs against then-No. 6 Eastern Oregon, before re-setting her career-high with 30 digs against then-No. 24 Northwest (Wash.).
• With no reception errors on the week, Coburn averaged six digs per set.
• Leads the Yotes in aces with 33 total on the season.
• This is the first National Player of the Week honor for Coburn.  

National Setter of the Week
Amelia Grahn, Viterbo (Wis.)
Jr., S, Madison, Wis.   

• Recorded four-straight doube-doubles, highlighted by 53 assists and a career-high 24 digs in a 3-2 win over then-No. 23 Indiana Wesleyan.
• During a 5-0 week for the V-Hawks, Grahn averaged 11.11 assists, 3.7 digs and 1.3 kills per set. She totaled 211 assists, 70 digs and 24 kills over the course of the week.
• Garnered an attack percentage of .357 for the week.
• Ranks No. 3 nationally in total assists (1,091) and No. 19 in assists per match (10.5).
• This is Grahn’s second National Player of the Week honor this season (Sept. 20).
