Karis Frankian of The Master's (Calif.) has been named the NAIA Women's Cross Country National Runner of the Week, the national office announced Wednesday. Frankian was chosen for her performance during the week of Sept. 15-21 and was selected out of a pool of conference and independent award winners.

The junior from Saugus, Calif., finished ahead of the pack in the 169-runner, Mustang Challenge on Sept. 20 with a time of 17:53. Frankian led the 13th-ranked Lady Mustangs – who hosted the meet – to an overall third-place finish out of 17 schools, trailing NCAA Division I Sacramento State (Calif.) and 11th-ranked Cal State San Marcos.

Other Division I schools who finished behind The Master’s in the 5K race include Cal State Fullerton and Southern California.
