• There are four games scheduled between Top 25 teams as most NAIA schools head into their season-opener this weekend. Those games are No. 2 Carroll (Mont.) hosting No. 18 Montana State-Northern, No. 19 Dakota Wesleyan (S.D.) welcoming No. 5 Morningside (Iowa), No. 21 Virginia-Wise at No. 10 Union (Ky.) and No. 12 Baker (Kan.) heading to No. 16 Missouri Valley. All the contests are Saturday.
• Defending national champion and No. 1 Sioux Falls (S.D.) is riding a 14-game winning streak into its season-opener at home against Nebraska Wesleyan this Saturday. USF also has a 33-game home winning streak and has not lost to a conference opponent since 2005 (a span of 33 straight games).
• There was one upset within the NAIA football world last week as Rocky Mountain (Mont.) downed No. 15 Dickinson State (N.D.) 28-7. Two other Top 25 teams fell to non-NAIA opposition (No. 20 Ohio Dominican and No. 21 Virginia-Wise).
• The College Fanz Sports Network “Game of the Week” is a doubleheader for the second straight week.
