June 22, 2007
EUGENE, Ore. - The Cascade Collegiate Conference Council of Presidents has announced that David Haglund will become the next Commissioner of the CCC. Haglund was selected after a national search and interviews with the search committee at CCC Spring Meetings in May.
"Dave brings us vision, practical skills, and the leadership ability necessary in helping the Cascade Collegiate Conference be one of the premier conferences in the NAIA," remarked Search Chair Dr. David Wilson, President of Northwest Christian College (Ore.).
For the first time in the 15 year history of the conference, the commissioner will serve in a full-time capacity. Duties and responsibilities include governance, marketing and media relations, fundraising and oversight of the day to operations of the CCC. The commissioner will also represent the Conference at national meetings and direct all conference championships.

Haglund, a graduate of Central Catholic (Ore.) High School and Oregon State University, comes back to the Pacific Northwest after working in the University of Maryland athletic department since 1998. While at Maryland, a member of the Atlantic Coast Conference, Haglund was the Associate Athletic Director for Varsity Sports and Championships and Media Relations. Prior to his time at Maryland, Haglund served as Sports Information Director at Fresno State University.
"On behalf of the Cascade Collegiate Conference we welcome Mr. Haglund to the Cascade Conference," stated Warner Pacific College Athletic Director and Acting Commissioner Bart Valentine. "This move to a full-time commissioner shows a wonderful commitment to the student-athlete experience by all of our university presidents."
Haglund will begin his duties on July 9.
