Corban (Ore.) Lands First Win in the Invitational Over Arizona Christian

MESA, Ariz. - No. 3 Corban (Ore.) opened NAIA Beach Volleyball Invitational pool play on April 23 with a 4-1 win over No. 7 Arizona Christian, setting the tone early.

The dual began with Pairs 2 and 4 taking the sand at the start and Corban wasted little time establishing control in both flights. In Pair 2, Allyson Reid and Gabi Engels delivered a composed straight-sets win over Jaiden Zeis and Abby Siebert, 21-15, 21-10, giving the Warriors the first point of the match. Moments later in Pair 4, Erin Scott and Emily Blagg backed it up with another decisive sweep, beating Haley Tedrow and Jasmin Joesph 21-9, 21-10 to push Corban ahead 2-0.

With the early edge secured in the first wave, the second wave provided the dual’s lone setback for Corban before the Warriors clinched the match. Arizona Christian responded in Pair 3 as Abby Nelson and Alyssa Robles controlled the match from the opening serve, defeating Alexis Adebodun and Cammie Masanda 21-7, 21-9 to cut the overall margin to 2-1.

Corban responded immediately in the remaining flights, turning the dual into a comfortable win. In Pair 1, Emma Bischoff and Emmi Marks were sharp in sideout play and consistent in transition, sweeping Emee Fellens and Emily Casner 21-15, 21-8 to clinch Corban’s third team point. The Warriors then capped the afternoon in Pair 5, where Jordan Faircloth and Rebecca Wilber closed out Kapri Espnosa and Lilly Petersen 21-13, 21-11 to make the final score 4-1.
