KANSAS CITY, Mo. - Kemonte Keesee of Bryan (Tenn.) has been named the NAIA National Baseball Pitcher of the Week and Bryan Lucas of The Master's (Calif.) has been tabbed National Baseball Player of the Week, the national office announced Tuesday. Keesee and Lucas were selected based on their performances from April 2 - 8 and were chosen out of a poll of conference/independent/unaffiliated groupings.

Keesee, a native of Nashville, Tenn., tossed seven scoreless innings to lead the Lions to a complete game, 12-0, victory against then-No. 15 Southern Poly (Ga.) on April 3. The senior right-hander allowed only one hit and struck out five in his longest outing of the season. With the victory, Keesee improves to 5-1 on the season and lowers his earned run average to 5.48.

Last week, Lucas hit .625 (5-for-8) with seven RBIs, three runs scored, two home runs and one double to lead the Mustangs to a 3-0 record, including a 5-3 victory against then-No. 5 Azusa Pacific (Calif.) on April 2. The junior catcher highlighted the week with a grand slam to give The Master's an 8-2 lead in the fifth inning of game two of the Mustang's April 5 doubleheader against then-No. 25 Cal State San Marcos. He finished the contest with a season-high five RBIs. In game one against Cal State San Marcos, the Newhall, Calif. native led the team with a season-best three hits and two RBIs.

On the season, Lucas paces the team with seven home runs and is tied for the team lead with 30 RBIs. Additionally, he owns a .311 batting average and .545 slugging percentage.
