KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Kyle Kinman of Bellevue (Neb.) has been named the NAIA Baseball National Pitcher of the Week and Dylan Mays of Park (Mo.) has been selected as the National Player of the Week, the national office announced Tuesday. Kinman and Mays were chosen based on their performances from March 10 – 16 and were selected out of a pool of conference, independent and unaffiliated group winners.

Kinman, a senior pitcher from Omaha, Neb., recorded a program single-game record 22 strikeouts in Bellevue’s 6-2 victory against College of the Ozarks (Mo.) on March 15. The performance also is a NAIA single-game high for the 2014 season. Kinman allowed four hits and two runs (one earned) in the complete-game win.

On the season, Kinman ranks third nationally in strikeouts per nine innings (13.6). He is also one of the team’s top hitters, ranking second on the squad with a .358 batting average.

Mays, a native of Sedalia, Mo., drove in 12 runs to play a key role in four of Park’s five victories, including a career-high five RBIs against American Midwest Conference rival Williams Baptist (Ark.) on March 12. The Pirates also broke a program record for runs scored in the 23-8 win. For the week, Mays tallied 11 hits, including four doubles, while also scoring eight runs and walking five times.

On the year, Mays leads Park with a .448 batting average in nine appearances. His 14 RBI are also tied for the team lead.
