By Alan Grosbach, Manager of Communications and Sports Information

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – (Bracket) The National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) has announced the official seeds and bracket for the 2015 Avista-NAIA Baseball World Series, hosted by Lewis-Clark State (Idaho). The 59th annual event will take place May 22 – 29 at Harris Field in Lewiston, Idaho, for the 16th-consecutive season.

The World Series is a 10-team, double-elimination tournament with the winner being crowned either May 28 or 29, depending on if the eventual national champion drops one of its earlier round games. For ticket information, click here.

Game one pits No. 7 Lindsey Wilson (Ky.) against No. 10 Vanguard (Calif.) on May 22 at 9 a.m. PDT. The winner of that game will face No. 2 Faulkner (Ala.) at 3 p.m. on May 23.

No. 8 Concordia (Calif.) will battle No. 9 St. Thomas (Fla.) at 12 p.m. in the second game of the day, while No. 3 Tabor (Kan.) and No. 6 Embry-Riddle (Fla.) square off at 3 p.m. in game three. Top-seeded Oklahoma Baptist will play the winner of Concordia-St. Thomas at 6:30 p.m. on May 23

The nightcap features No. 4 Lewis-Clark State (Idaho) and No. 5 Davenport (Mich.) following the event’s opening ceremonies at 7 p.m.

Davenport and Lindsey Wilson are each making its first-ever appearance at the World Series. The Panthers were the champions of the Grand Rapids Bracket, while the Blue Raiders swept the Kingsport Bracket.

Vanguard, which won the Santa Clarita Bracket as the No. 4 seed, is making its first appearance since 1985 – the longest drought among teams that had previously qualified. The Lions won four-straight in the Opening Round, including downing Golden State Athletic Conference rival and No. 9 ranked The Master’s (Calif.), 8-7.

Lewis-Clark State is making its NAIA record 34th World Series appearance. The Warriors also own the NAIA record for wins with 128 and national titles with 16. Lewis-Clark State finished runner-up last year, falling to Cumberland (Tenn.), 3-0, in the title game. Faulkner (2013) and Concordia (2011) are the only other qualifier with a championship banner.

Outside of Lewis-Clark State, Embry-Riddle is the most experienced team among the field. The Eagles, who set an NAIA record with their sixth Opening Round title by winning the Daytona Beach Bracket, reach the World Series for the seventh time in the last eight seasons to total 13 overall trips.

Nine of the 10 teams earned their spot by winning one of the nine National Championship Opening Rounds. To see those results, click here. Lewis-Clark State received a host berth.
