2021 NAIA Baseball Coaches’ Top 25 POSTSEASON Poll (June 9, 2021)
KANSAS CITY, Mo. – NAIA National Champion Georgia Gwinnett jumped from No. 6 in the final poll to the top in the postseason edition of the NAIA Baseball Top 25. The Grizzlies received 17 of 18 first-place votes. Tennessee Wesleyan finished seventh and was the only other team to receive a first place vote. NAIA National Champion runner-up Central Methodist (Mo.) jumped from No. 4 to No. 2 as Lewis-Clark State (Idaho), Faulkner (Ala.) and Southeastern (Fla.) rounded-out the top five respectively.
Poll Methodology
- The poll was voted upon by a panel of head coaches representing each of the conferences and the Association of Independent Institutions.
- The Top 25 is determined by a points system based on how each voter ranks the best teams. A team receives 30 points for each first-place vote, 29 for second-place and so on through the list.
- The highest and lowest ranking for each team (a non-rating is considered a low rating) is removed and the team’s ranking will be recalculated with an additional point added to each team for every ballot (including discounted ballots) that the teams appear on.
- Teams that receive only one point on the ballot are not considered “receiving votes”
- The frequency of the polls is bi-weekly. This policy was approved by the National Administrative Council (NAC) prior to the 2016-17 academic season. This change allows raters the opportunity to consider a larger body of work between rating periods.
