2025 NAIA Baseball GoRout Coaches’ Top 25 – No. 4 (April 16)
KANSAS CITY, Mo. – After breaking the NAIA record for consecutive wins to begin a season and closing in on the longest unbeaten streak in NAIA baseball history, LSU Shreveport (La.) is No. 1 in the NAIA Baseball GoRout Coaches’ Top 25, a position the Pilots have held for four-consecutive ratings in the regular season.
LSU Shreveport broke the record to begin a season over the weekend, a record that was held by Point Park (Pa.) and dated back to the 1980s. Point Park also holds the longest unbeaten streak in NAIA history, at 41 games. (Note: Tuesday, LSU Shreveport tied the record with a win over Nelson (Texas). Records in the rating, below, are through Sunday's games)
Georgia Gwinnett held position at No. 2, followed by Hope International (Calif.) and Tennessee Wesleyan, each up a spot at No. 3 and No. 4, while Reinhardt (Ga.) fell from No. 3 to No. 5.
Two teams – Lewis-Clark State (Idaho) and Bellevue (Neb.) – re-entered the Top 25, Lewis-Clark State after a week removed, and Bellevue for the first time since the preseason rating in the fall.
A final regular-season rating remains, scheduled for Wednesday, April 30.
Rating Methodology
- The rating was voted upon by a panel of head coaches representing each of the NAIA’s baseball conferences.
- The Top 25 is determined by a points system based on how each rater’s 30-team ballot. A team receives 30 points for each first-place vote, 29 for second-place and so on through the list.
- The highest and lowest ranking for each team (a non-rating is considered a low rating) is removed, and the team’s ranking will be recalculated with an additional point added to each team for every ballot (including discounted ballots) that the teams appear on.
- Teams that receive only one point on the ballot are not considered “receiving votes”.
