Calmes Earns Pitcher of the Week Recognition After 17-Strikeouts in Walk-Off Win
KANSAS CITY, Mo. - Tristan Calmes of UHSP (Mo.) has been named the NAIA Baseball Pitcher of the Week following a 17-strikeout complete-game performance that fueled a 3-2 walk-off win over Columbia (Mo.).
Calmes went the distance and handcuffed the Cougars to just two runs on five hits, striking out a UHSP-record 17 batters on 153 pitches. The effort marked his strongest performance of the season and helped secure UHSP’s first-ever win over Columbia, one of the conference’s top offenses.
The right-hander improved to 5-4 on the season while notching his second double-digit strikeout game of the year. He now owns six of the top seven single-game strikeout performances in program history.
For the season, Calmes holds a team-best 4.32 ERA across 58.1 innings pitched, while recording 62 strikeouts.
The Eutectics moved to 21-20 overall and 12-9 in conference play. UHSP will face Williams Baptist University in the first round of the American Midwest Conference Baseball Tournament on April 27.
