River Pecina’s Multi-Homer Week Drives Player of the Week Honor
KANSAS CITY, Mo. - River Pecina of Marian (Ind.) has been named NAIA Baseball Player of the Week after a breakout performance at the plate for the Knights.
The freshman phenom recorded four multi-hit games, including the second and third multi-home run performances of his career. Pecina went 11-for-17 across five games, launching five home runs and collecting eight extra-base hits while posting a 1.706 slugging percentage and a .647 average for the week.
He drove in 16 runs and crossed the plate 10 times on the week, with his two multi-homer efforts pushing his season total to a team-leading 13 home runs.
Marian travels to No. 23 IU Southeast (Ind.) on Wednesday for a 3 p.m. contest before returning home to face Bethel (Ind.) this weekend.
The Knights are 26-9 overall and 19-5 in Crossroads League play.
