Fighting Bees Out Front After Preliminary Rounds at 2026 Nfinity NAIA Cheer National Championship

Topeka, Kan. – The 10th Annual Nfinity NAIA Competitive Cheer National Championship, hosted by Visit Topeka, featured all 15 teams in the preliminary rounds on Friday, the first day of the event. The Stormont Vail Events Center, in Topeka, Kan., was the site for preliminary round scores, counting as 25 percent of the combined total, leaving the last 75 percent of the score to be calculated from Saturday’s finals performances.

Prelims Performance Highlights

  • St. Ambrose (Iowa), the defending champions, lead all teams with a preliminary score of 93.42.
  • The Fighting Bees are in search of a fourth-consecutive Red Banner, and have appeared in all nine previous events.
  • There were four teams with preliminary scores above 90.
  • Baker (Kan.) is competing in the field for the first time in program history. 
  • Saint Mary (Kan.) is in the championship field for the third-consecutive season and earned a program-best fourth-place finish a year ago.
  • Northwestern (Iowa) is making a third-straight and third overall appearance after qualifying for the championship in 2024 and 2025.
  • Madonna (Mich.) is making their first championship appearance in program history.
  • Xavier (La.) were national champions in 2022 and are making their sixth-straight trip to the championship. They’ve finished second in the last two championships.
  • Taylor (Ind.) is making its first-ever appearance in the championship field.
  • Oklahoma City has made every championship since its inception, winning the inaugural title in 2017 and another in 2021
