Loring's 203 yards, 3 TDs in WPU's Win at No. 16 Baker Good for NAIA Weekly Offensive Honors
KANSAS CITY, Mo. - Destynd Loring carried 26 times for 206 yards and three scores, Saturday, helping William Penn (Iowa) upset No. 16 Baker (Kan.), earning NAIA Offensive Player of the Week honors for Sept. 15.
Loring, a senior from Charleston, S.C., also hauled in three receptions for 21 yards, but his damage has been on the ground, this season, where he's rushed for 420 yards (140 per game) and eight touchdowns.
Saturday, against Baker, Loring had the Statesmen in front 7-0 on a nine-yard score that capped a five-play, 84-yard drive, the first score of the game for either team. In the second half, Loring punched in a two-yard, third-quarter touchdown to put William Penn in front 17-10, and his 12-yard run with 1:54 to go in the fourth quarter sealed the game, ending a drive that went 12 plays and nearly eight minutes.
William Penn is now 3-0, and the Statesmen host No. 12 MidAmerica Nazarene (Kan.), Saturday at 6 p.m. CT.
