Dutton Earns NAIA Special Teams Recognition After Returning Two Kickoffs for TDs, First in IWU Football History
KANSAS CITY, Mo. - Indiana Wesleyan wide receiver and kickoff returner Drew Dutton became the first Wildcat with two kickoff returns for touchdowns in the same game, earning NAIA Special Teams Player of the Week, Sept. 15.
Dutton, a sophomore from Reno, Nev., etched his name in the IWU record book in the Wildcats 58-point win, totaling 170 yards on two kickoff returns, both for touchdowns.
His first, a 75-yard return, put Indana Wesleyan in front 37-7 with 8:33 to go in the first half, and with 7:46 remaining in the third quarter, he fielded the ball at the five and took it 95 yards for his second kickoff return for a touchdown, helping seal the game by putting IWU in front 65-14.
The Wildcats moved up to No. 5 in the Netting Professionals NAIA Football Coaches' Top 25, and they'll be back in action Saturday, at home, hosting (RV) Olivet Nazarene (Ill.), at 1:05 p.m. ET, on ESPN+.
