Cumberland (Tenn.) Kicker Kantner Boots Go-Ahead FG in Win Over Campbellsville (Ky.), Earning Special Teams Player of the Week
KANSAS CITY, Mo. - Jack Kantner made good on a pair of extra points and hit all three field goals he attempted, including a go-ahead kick in the fourth quarter that gave Cumberland (Tenn.) the lead for good over No. 6 Campbellsville (Ky.).
Monday (Oct. 27), his efforts were recognized as NAIA Special Teams Player of the Week.
A junior from Blue Ridge, Ga., Kantner connected on field goals of 20, 21, and 30 yards, and his 30-yard make in the fourth quarter, with 3:38 to play, gave the Phoenix their first lead since early in the second quarter, a lead that would ultimately stick in a 35-33 win over the nationally ranked Tigers.
In all, Kantner accounted for 11 points in the game, and he added three touchbacks on kickoffs.
Cumberland hosts Cumberlands (Ky.) on Saturday, kicking off at 1:30 p.m. CT.
