Solano's Two INTs, 14 Tackles for IWU Claim NAIA Defensive Player of the Week
KANSAS CITY, Mo. - Vincie Solano is the NAIA Football Defensive Player of the Week after recording a game-high 14 tackles and a pair of interceptions in Indiana Wesleyan's 56-48 win over Taylor (Ind.).
Solano, a senior safety, picked Taylor quarterback Alex Amburgy on the Trojans' opening drive, and in the fourth quarter, he intercepted Damon Hockett, keeping the game tied, 48-48 to set up a go-ahead scoring drive for the Wildcats, four possessions later.
Indiana Wesleyan returns home Saturday, hosting Lawrence Tech (Mich.), as Solano will celebrate Senior Day. Kickoff is slated for Noon.
