Phoenix, Ariz.
-- The National Basketball Association Development League All-Star game in Phoenix, AZ, held some extra excitement for Eagle fans as Robert Morris (Ill.) College's Othyus Jeffers was in the starting line-up for the Red Squad in their 113-103 win.

Jeffers led RMC to the quarterfinals of the Buffalo Funds-National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics National Championship Tournament in a senior campaign that saw him net Player of the Year honors from the Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference.  He was also the NAIA National Player of the Year as selected by The Sporting News.

This season he is one of the top players on the Iowa Energy of the NBADL.  He averages 19.5 points per game, good for 14th in the league.  He is tenth in double-doubles while averaging just under nine rebounds per game from the guard position.

He has helped the Energy to a 17-8 won-loss record in the NBADL's first half, tops in the Central Division and second best in the league.

Othyus scored 14 points on 6-of-9 shooting from the floor in the All-Star game.  He also grabbed three rebounds and dished out a pair of assists.  His teammate Courtney Sims, a Friday afternoon call-up to the Phoenix Suns, was chosen Co-MVP of the game.

"O' is steadily building the credentials to earn a spot in the NBA," says RMC Head Coach Al Breuhl, who has over twenty former players among the professional leagues across the globe.

Bruehl's current Eagles clinched the 2008-2009 CCAC title on Saturday, February 14, 2009, with an 82-75 road win over their arch-rivals, the Tigers of Olivet Nazarene.  Under his leadership, Robert Morris has reached the NAIA National Semifinals four times with two additional Elite Eight appearances.  They were the national runners-up in 2002.
